ROAD2EU Mini-Workshop Explores Micro-Credentials and Digital Professionalism

A focused ROAD2EU mini-workshop connected the design of trustworthy micro-credentials with the digital professionalism expected of educators.

The session formed part of Digital Education, Innovation & Lifelong Learning in the EU, led by Yan Kapranov during the ROAD2EU Winter School 2025.

Two participant presentations provided the basis for an applied discussion: Yelyzaveta Ishakovska addressed micro-credentials and academic recognition, while Uliana Vitkovska examined digital professionalism among educators.

Two practical development paths

• A unified ROAD2EU micro-credential template linking learning outcomes, workload, assessment, evidence, quality assurance and recognition.
• Stackable and portable credentials supported by trustworthy digital certificates and e-portfolios.
• A proposed ten-point Digital Professionalism checklist covering ethical AI use, academic integrity, data protection, accessibility, cyber-hygiene, feedback and course structure.
• A short skills module and badge or certificate through which educators could demonstrate the agreed professional standards.

The next steps identified in the workshop were to test the micro-credential template in one sub-module, refine the professionalism checklist and add both tools to the internal ROAD2EU repository. These were planned actions, not yet reported as completed outputs.
