A forum where EU priorities met higher education practice
Held within the ROAD2EU Jean Monnet Module, the conference created an interdisciplinary forum for examining how European Union economic, social, and territorial priorities can be translated into teaching, research, institutional development and public dialogue through Digital European Studies.
Across two days, researchers, educators, academic leaders and practitioners associated with institutions in Poland and Ukraine explored digital transformation, responsible AI, data ethics, ESG, social inclusion, regional development, educational innovation, resilience and policy implementation. The programme deliberately connected policy analysis with applied academic and professional perspectives.
The event also established a durable scholarly record: its official programme and Book of Abstracts document the contributions, thematic structure and academic reach of the first ROAD2EU conference.

Two days of structured academic exchange
Day 1 · 20 April
Academic synergy and responsible digital transformation
The official opening introduced ROAD2EU as an academic roadmap for embedding EU priorities into Polish higher education. Plenary Panel I examined responsible digital transformation, human-centred AI, mental health and productivity, sustainability, behavioural analytics and regulatory adaptation.
Six parallel sessions then addressed economic governance, ESG, digital enterprise, teacher and language education, organisational transformation, AI, assessment and the legal-ethical dimensions of education.
Day 2 · 21 April
Human-centred AI, European resilience and crisis preparedness
Plenary Panel II focused on European resilience, hybrid warfare, crisis preparedness in higher education and countering manipulation in the digital space.
A further six parallel sessions explored agriculture and the bioeconomy, innovative learning environments, digital citizenship, data ethics, community-oriented education, entrepreneurship, health, social resilience and applied research methodologies.

Contribution to ROAD2EU
From conference dialogue to lasting project output
The conference advanced ROAD2EU’s dissemination and dialogue mission by connecting policy-oriented research with educational practice and institutional experience. Its interdisciplinary structure demonstrated how Digital European Studies can link economic modernisation, social responsibility, territorial development and methodological innovation within a single academic framework.
The published conference materials now form part of the project’s accessible knowledge base and provide a foundation for future ROAD2EU teaching, research and public-engagement activities.

The conference dialogue continues in a Special Issue
Digital European Studies and EU Synergy Policies, published as AI, Law, Politics, Vol. 2 No. S1 (2026), develops the scholarly dialogue associated with the conference into an editorial and eight DOI-linked contributions.
Publication status: this is an independently edited, peer-reviewed journal issue—not the proceedings of the ROAD2EU Conference.
